Kurban Bayrami (The Festival of Sacrifice)

=_Kurban Bayrami (The Festival of Sacrifice)_=

Bayram  means festival, or holiday, and is used to describe national and   religious holidays in Turkey.  There are two main religious (Islamic) holidays, one being Ramadan festival and the other being Kurban festival. The Kurban festival is celebrated ever year, two months after Ramadan festival. This is a four-day festival.

While the Turkish government has recently made it illegal to sacrifice the animals in public places such as playgrounds and parks.  Mostly on the first day the rich people buy an animal like sheep, goat or cow and then they cut them. After that they share the fresh meat with neighbours, friends and they especially give it to poor people. On that day everyone has barbeque.

During the festival people wear new clothes and  then they visit relatives, friends and  neighbours. The teenagers kiss the adult's hand and the adults give some money for them to celebrate and to make them happy.

Workers Protest

                                             ~~Workers Protest~~

Many employees have been protesting for their rights as a worker. A great amount of the problems they experience have been because of their race. When people were running for the office of governor one man spoke about taking care of racial discrimination. Many employees liked what he had to say and voted for him. This man became governor but many employees do not feel he has done anything to help them.

I believe  that the workers protest was a good idea. If I was in their place I would have done the same thing and stood up for my rights.

Mother of triplets needs help

Kellie Arbuckle and husband Ashley Lockwood were in
Westmead Hospital last Tuesday. They had triplets and they were so excited.
Ms Arbuckle said that she had two boys and a girl. Their names are  Jayden,
Brody and Mackenzie and they were born by caesarean and are a
            healthy weight.

"At the first ultrasound we were comforted that there was one heartbeat, at the
second we were told there were two heartbeats and then finally there was a
             third heartbeat" Ms Arbuckle said.

They will need to help looking after their triplets so they will be staying with
Ms  Arbuckle's parents. They have a 10-year-old daughter Jessica ready to
           help raise her baby siblings.

~A Woman Catches Thief~

                                  LOCAL WOMAN CATCHES THIEF
By Suna Eyidogan

Ms Anderson helped police catch a thief.

Julie Anderson lives in Seaford.
On Tuesday morning Julie Anderson
answered a knock on her door. There
was a man at the door. He said that he
was lost and he asked where the Seaford
station is. She answered his question then he left.

Then she went to window and watched him.
He was knocking on her neighbour's doors.
She thought to herself why would he keep knocking on peoples doors?
She'd already told him what he wanted to know.

She rang the police when she saw him walk around
the side of the house. He came out a few minutes later
carrying a bag she hadn't seen before. The police wasn't there yet so
she decided to follow him. She left her house and
she followed  him by car to the station. He was on foot and when
he got there she lost sight of him.

She saw him on the platform. Two policeman approached her.
The man had boarded a train and she tried to hold the doors open with her foot.
Then the police caught the man.

After Seaford police thanked Ms Anderson for her support.

A FORMAL LETTER

      1 Elizabeth street
      Granville NSW 2142

      10 September 2013

      Manager
      Parramatta City Council
      30 Darcy street
      Parramatta NSW 2150

      Dear Sir / Madam

Re: " Council to make beach an alcohol-free zone "

I am writing to support the plans to make the beach an alcohol-free zone.

I think the beach should be an alcohol-free zone because it is very dangerous
for other people's health. In my opinion drinking should not be allowed in public
places. It would be better for everyone if drinkers stopped drinking on the beach.

I think the Council should put the signs to say " no alcohol " as soon as possible.

     Yours faithfully

                                  { Fire Damages Midtown Building }

Last night big town buildings were on fire. In the morning two ladies who lived their came to the damaged area. They were neighbours and they looked at the damaged buildings. They only stayed  for a short  time because they were with their children. The ladies were sad because they had lost their home. They thought they'll find a shelter for themselves.

                    ~  Computers in Classroom ~

I believe having computers in the classroom has its advantages and disadvantages.

I think computers are a  very useful technology to use in the classroom because it has a lot things in it. If  students  need  any information they can  search it up and find it easily. They can get easy access to different  English programs. When they need to keep a document they can put their document in a folder. They can work at their own pace . If they would like to share their studies with their classmates they can do it  and they  would enjoy it.

I think that when the students use computers for a long time they get tired easily and also have back pain. I believe computers are not good for eyes. Also when children are using computers there should be a supervisor because they could get distracted easily.

My Opinion About Granville

Granville is geographically the centre of Sydney. I am living in Granville.
My opinion is that Granville  is a very quite and good suburb to live in. It has a lot of things  like  TAFE, swimming centre, public transport and multicultural restaurants. It doesn't have a big shopping centre but you have the choice to shop at Merrylands, Parramatta or Auburn .
